A vision statement is the main statement or series of statements that describes what we want the neighbourhood area to be like at the end of the plan period. The vision should be concise and distinctive to Whittlesford. It can include what we want the neighbourhood area to look like, what facilities will be needed and what it will be like to live and work here.
The following drafts were prepared by the Steering Group and are currently with South Cambridgeshire District Council’s planning department for their comments. These statements were published to residents and following the consultation option 1 was the preferred vision statement to be used in the neighbourhood plan with the addition of the words “heritage assets” for completeness. South Cambridgeshire District Council have also now reviewed the vision and were in agreement with its contents.
Whittlesford Parish will remain an attractive and desirable place to live, meeting the housing needs of all ages with a community seeking to provide a good quality of life for all residents in a rural village environment.
It will be a thriving and sustainable community, supported by appropriate infrastructure, offering a range of employment opportunities and maintaining hertitage assets and green areas that are a haven for wildlife.
Our village will be a place where residents enjoy an excellent quality of life, people feel valued and connected, heritage assets are protected, countryside and views are safeguarded and (where) homes, businesses and facilities meet the needs of a vibrant rural (inclusive) community.
Our Parish will be a place in which residents enjoy an excellent quality of life; where they feel valued and connected; heritage assets, wildlife and the landscape are protected in an environment where homes, businesses and facilities meet the needs of a contemporary rural community.
Whittlesford will be a place where residents enjoy an excellent quality of life and people feel valued and connected. Heritage assets will be protected; countryside, wildlife and valuable views will be safeguarded and celebrated. Homes, businesses and other facilities will meet the needs of a vibrant rural community.
The objectives should be broad statements of intent. They should clearly link back to the issues we are seeking to address through our neighbourhood plan. The vision and objectives will provide the framework to develop the plan policies and proposals.
The following drafts were prepared by the Steering Group and also reviewed by South Cambridgeshire District Council’s planning department. These statements were published to all residents end of May/early June for any comments. The deadline for comments was 15th June 2017 and it is now proposed that the objectives will be used in the neighbourhood plan document following the consultation and their approval by South Cambrigeshire District Council. If you have any further comments please do let us know.
